After stopping off at Bridge Camp last night, which hadn't been completed and had flies surrounding the showers and toilets, we made our way further south into Lusaka. It's certainly a change from the previous areas of Africa we've seen: there are satellite dishes on the horizon!
We stopped off at a shopping centre, a fete within itself, and saw many different nationalities shopping in the supermarket and heading into the banks. I had to queue outside the bank before I could use the cash machine, the armed guard made sure I couldn't step inside! I withdrew a whopping Z$400,000! Whilst this is only about £60 it was a great wodge of cash to have in your purse walking back to the truck.
Back at the campsite I enjoyed a nice quiet, hot shower with no queues surrounding me. I realised as I was drying off that the lack of girly talk and business was due to the fact that I'd somehow ended up in the men's showers! Not that anybody noticed as I dressed and wandered calmly over to the girls' showers, which were full of girls queuing for showers and mirrors! I suppose the sign saying 'Bruce' on the front of the showers should have given it away, but it wasn't until I saw the 'Sheila' sign on the other side of the building that I realised. Oh well, no harm done!
