A successful day is what I might call today! I got up at 7 to go for a run, inspired by John and Catlin's huge run! Upon my return I had bananas on toast, boring information you might think, but a perfect breakfast for me! Oh, and I tried the new cheesy Vegemite spread! Someone had obviously left it as it had been in the kitchen since I got there! Pleasantly surprised: I think Vegemite may have succeeded where Marmite failed!
To top off the morning the sun was shining, so I made my way over to Sydney Tower. It was just $22.50 with my voucher that I'd found in Brisbane! Not a bargain, but always good to save pennies!
The view up there was impressive as you'd expect, but apart from the bridge and the opera house, the latter of which wasn't brilliantly visible from the tower, it was just another skyline. I much preferred the view from the CN Tower, but maybe I was swayed by the outdoor balcony and glass floor in Toronto! The tour also provided an 'Oztrek' experience - a simulated tour through Australia in theme park-style seats. It rocked us about as we were taken to see Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney's skyline, and even the first crooks arriving on its shores! I suppose it's aimed at children really, or at least I hope so, as it was quite tacky, but it entertained me for a few minutes!
Once I'd left the Tower I decided to try and scope out my route to the hostel I'm moving to tomorrow - I'd had directions from the Swiss girl that directed me 'all the way down George Street, up Broadway, and it's on the left'. These directions were spot on, but George Street lasts for a good 15minutes of walking, followed by 10 more on Broadway. Not a long walk when you know where you're going, but I don't look forward to it with my whole world on my back tomorrow! But alas, it must be done, and as I've said before, I need the exercise!
