We arrived at Rotorua around tea time so we dropped our bags at the hostel and went out for summit to eat. We decided on an indian 'cause there was loads, when we finally found one with space we were waiting for a table and the guys we met in Fiji at Nabua Lodge walked past us it was one of their birthdays so they asked us to join them, we were all totally amazed to bump into each other in another country! The meal was ok! but everyone else enjoyed it inlcuding the birthday boy and he's free cocktail!, so that's the main thing. The next day we drove to Wai-o-Tapu thermal wonderland, we had to be at the Lady Knoxx geyser for 10.15 as thats what time it erupts, a big let down however as they pour a load of soap into it to get it going. The rest of the park was really good though, different coloured pools off all the minerals in them, boiling mud pools, water over 100 degrees, kool as! After that we went to Te Puia to see the REAL geysers a whole bunch of them erupt naturally on their own, they also had a kiwi house, loads of mud pools, replica Maori villages, Maori shows and you could join in a 'Hangi' (food cooked underground) if you wanted to. The next day Matt and the guys were off to Lake Taupo to do a skydive (12'000 ft) so I decided to treat meself and went to Hell's Gate mud bath & spa, mmmmm, bliss. I was so soft and smooth afterwards. You also get to walk round the park which has various mud pools of different temperatures, sizes, depths, etc. They had a lovely cafe, you could make your own 'Hangi' and I made a Maori wood carving! Me and Matt met back up and decided to drive up to Auckland so we could have a full day there before flying out.
