As usual this morning we went on our orientation tour, although there were far less people as many of the group had left the tour here in Warsaw.
We walked over the river past the amazing church of the Archangel Micheal & Saint Florian and we could see the old castle, which trust my luck was covered in scaffolding. We had a walk through the old town and through the old Jewish Ghetto, there was a sign showing the devastation of the area during WWII, which was unreal considering everything is so in tact now. We also past the house of Marie Curie, who won two Nobel prizes for discovering radiation.
After we had seen the old town, we stopped for coffee and cake in a little café, which was really nice. I had toffee cake and a hot chocolate.
After our break most of the group went off on their own and Sara and I continued onto the newer part of town with the remaining passengers. We arrived at the tomb of the unknown soldier just in time for the changing of the guard and then we walked all the way to the Cultural centre, a giant skyscraper, built entirely out of marble during the communist era on the orders of Stalin.
We left the group there and then Sara and I went shopping and had lunch in a nearby shopping centre.
We got the tram back to the hotel, which was an experience in itself as when it started up, we both nearly went flying. We walked back to the hotel from our tram stop and did not emerge until morning.

Mum Typical, you always see things covered in scaffolding. A marble skyscraper, imagine how much it must weigh.
