Angkor wat was hot. Both still very ill we struggled around the numerous temples but saw some amazing sites. Hired tuk tuk for the day to take us around, we saw Angkor wat, elephant temple, Lara Croft temple with trees and lots more - we skipped the last two when we reached breaking point. That night we got a sleeper bus to phnom phen.
It was great and arrived the next day and chilled by the pool in our hostel. Then we went to see the S21 museum and the killing fields. Absolutely horrific but super interesting.
We had walk around and saw the night market and some more temples.
Our last day here we spent by the pool and in the pizza company before travelling back to Siem Reap over night for our flight where we waited 14 hours at the airport!
The bus was an absolute disaster and I lost my flip flops in a swamp we were peeing in on the side of the road with all locals watching in the dark.
Next day we spent the day in Hanoi and loved it! It’s super cheap and we went to a restaurant in the 36th floor over looking the city with best Chinese baked dumplings ever! Nathan found Cheetos for 20p and Vietnamese twinkies. Walked around all day and saw most of the north of the city and then off to a jazz club in the evening after eating ramen and dumplings at a street stall that seats 8 people which was great.
After just one day in Hanoi we got another to Sapa- again another disaster. Dropped off and picked up all the locals of Vietnam and took us 11 hours to do 5 hours drive.
We stayed with a family in Sapa and slept on a mattress above the kitchen but it’s great and they were super friendly with cute dogs and had a great family meal in the evening. Views were unreal and we did a good hike before we went and explored Sapa before getting a bus back to Hanoi.
