On the road with Mum and Jen and loving it.
We spent a few days in Sydney doing the touristy sites and meeting with a few friends which was brilliant. Saw all the great views of the opera house and the bridge, and trust me its amazing. Had a few very nice meals and it makes a bit of a difference from my usual pasta or two-minute noodles so appreciating every piece of non home brand food.
After our time in Sydney we rented out a car (£10 a day!) and set off for the Blue Mountains in the wrong direction. After a bit of bad map reading, by me unfortunatly, we arrived in the national park for a great drive through the forests. The views out over the surounding valleys were fantastic, i understand why they are called the Blue Mountains know. Apparently its because the Eculiptus Trees give off a blue vapour and since there are so many in the valleys it looks briliant from any view point.
After a nights stay in Katoomba we had a quick look at the 3 sisters rock formation which was a major disapointment. See the photo on this blog to realise why...fog. To lift our spirits we took a ride on the steepest raliway in the world which was really good fun (if a little scary). We then got started on the 7 hour drive to the Thomas's house in Tathra wich was a bit boring but made better for me as i got to drive for a bit.
We arrived at Ranch Thomo (not its real name) at 7:30pm to a warm welcom from the family and a delicious 'barbie'. After catching up on all the gossip, eg. tattoos, and a quick game of Articulate we went to bed to get some energy for the activity packed next day.
Today we got up in the morning to see about 10 kangaroos in the back garden which was great to wake up to, after a quick trip to the town for some bakery goods we set off to the beach with surf boards, boogy boards, skiffle boards and sun cream. Had a great day down there until the beach was invaded by the local campsite squad but all we had to do was pack up and come back to the house for a swim in the pool here. Speaking of which i better go for a dip, bye!
