I go on a hunt for a boat. Pissing down and hard to avoid. I walk the 2 miles to the bus station. A tuk tuk just a fantasy here. The guy tells me I have a chance of a boat at 11am in a few days. I am going to try otherwise I will give up and go back to Luang Prabang. Had a quiet day other than hunting for the boat and the dock. Not much here other than a couple of small bars and 2 good Indian restaurants. Sitting having a beer, the pace a lot slower than last night. I get speaking to a German girl called Anna at one of the only local bars. She has spent her holiday touring the region. I see Bobby and Claire mentioning I should be leaving tomorrow. They are thinking of leaving soon too. Unless you want to get involved in set trips and excursions, options are limited for activities. The owner of the bar is a friendly chap, I think glad of some company and certainly some customers out of season. Anna is staying at my hostel and we take some beers back to the balcony there. With the change in weather recently, every lightbulb in town is infested with a moth like fly. Thousands of them bouncing off the lights. The walkway along the communial balcony is crunchy underfoot with dead ones. Smacking off my face as I pass. Anna decides more beer is in order and pops back up the 50 metres to the bar for some more Laos beer. I have no idea what time it is once this is finished but we meander back up to the bar once more. She informs me that it was closed the last time but left the money on the bar. I climb over the fence, grab some beers from the fridge and do likewise. Only in Laos. As the sun is rising I consider that there is little to no chance of catching a boat this fine day.
