I had breakfast on my own this morning as Emma and Jane had not surfaced from their beds which also gave me some time to do some laundry here at the hostel as I wasn't sure when I would be next somewhere with laundry facilities.
I finally saw Emma and Jane at around 11:30 and we went into town for some lunch before we said our goodbyes as they had to catch their bus up to Airlie beach. I would probably not see them again as they were both planning to get jobs in Australia for a year but who knows if our paths will cross again.
I was still undecided about what to do so I checked out and decided as I had a bit of free time that I would update some blog before heading south again.
I spent a few hours updating and uploading my blog which was slowly getting further and further behind. I didn’t think it would be so difficult to keep up to date but it takes a while to write and also to upload pictures as the internet connection speeds here are pretty slow.
I had made a decision! Woo hoo! I was going to head to Noosa this afternoon so I grabbed my laptop and headed back to my van and as I was walking through the car park with my keys in my hand ready to go I bumped into Leander (from Airlie Beach) who had just checked into the hostel with Debbie. He saw me just as he was checking the number plate of my van which he recognised straight away. I stopped and said hello and I followed him back to his van to see Debbie and after a quick chat I decided that I would check back into the hostel and stay another night with them.
We got talking about whale watching trips and I told them about how great my trip had been two days ago so they decided on my recommendation that they would do the same trip. We headed out in to town and down to the harbour so that they could book the boat trip. While in the booking office with Debbie and Leander, I managed to get them the same discount that Jane and I got which saved them $40 and I had also changed my mind once again and had decided that I would book a Fraser Island trip for tomorrow. I had a chat with the guy in the ticket office about the best trips to do and he said that the self drive ones were the best so I decided that I would go back to the hostel and book with them.
Back at the YHA hostel I booked the Unique Fraser 4x4 3 day / 2 night trip at a cost of $310. I hope it is worth it, but at least I will get to drive the 4WD car on the island and get to camp on the beach for 2 nights.
After dinner Leander and I swapped phone numbers as we were splitting up again tomorrow as we had different tips booked. I had 3 days on Fraser Island booked and they had tomorrow booked on the whale watching trip but we would be heading in the same direction and we agreed it would be good to meet up again.
As a thank you for getting the discount on their trip tomorrow Leander and Debbie gave me a present. It was an Original Army Issue Swiss Army knife. This was very kind of them and a very special gift. Thank you so much guys!
