We decided on an afternoon at The Beach Club, la Rose des Vents, a private beach and services. Although we were very careful not to get burned, plenty of sun screen and shaded by parasols, the temperature was over powering. We had a swim in the sea to cool off but the damage had been done, I think my body thermometer got its knickers in a twist and I am sure I got a touch of heat exhaustion. We had a very nice lunch of Prawns and Guacamole and Heidi had an Italian platter, both well-presented and good quality and reasonably priced. We went back to the hotel for a rest in hope my body temperature regained some equilibrium. Sadly not, and our visit to Joel Robuchon found me not at my best. The restaurant is beautiful and the waiters more formal than previous nights, only to be expected at a 2 star Michelin restaurant in Mote Carlo. Luckily, the menu was just perfect, with a section dedicated to small taster portions. We had 2 each, Heidi had Aubergine salad and then Lamb on the plancheta and I had King Prawn in vermicelli with spicy soy dip and Quail with truffle Mash potatoes. We had a glass of Cote de Beaune, Saucilles. Although we fully enjoyed every minute of this fine dining experience we had to cut short and send our apologies to Monsieur Rubichon, the sun had finally done for me!
Straight to bed with lots of water and a long lay-in
