We all slept well after the lengthy travels of the previous day. We decided to head up to Parc Guell which contained buildings and mosaics designed by Gaudi. The metro ride to Lesseps was quick and the stroll ok until we hit the hill. The park is on a significant rise which means walking up a lot. There appeared to be no alternative until we were coming down and discovered escalators from the other direction. Too late! Being Sunday, it was very busy, even though a gentle drizzle persisted. The view across Barcelona was fine although would be better is the weather was.
The Gaudi designs were highly fanciful.
Along a pathway was a highly energetic group of seven musicians who never stopped. Their reggae inspired music and antics were entertaining enough for us to buy the CD.
After the park we had lunch and then jumped on a bus. It headed to Estacio Sants via Diagonal, which is the fashionable boulevard of Barcelona. Lots of magnificently styled facades on this wide tree-lined street.
The Parc Espanya Industrial is next door to Sants so Tim and the boys had a kick of soccer while we checked out the lake and area around. I guess they perform concerts here from the way the seating was arranged around the lake.
We headed down to Barceloneta on the water front. Outside the metro there was a big chase on by the cops against some street sellers - could have been immigration or illegal trading at issue. It was a little scary.
We crossed the boardwalk to a shopping mall - MareMagnum - for some retail therapy.
Heading back up La Ramblas we say what looked like a religious procession with massive representations of Ferdinand and Isabella. Not sure how that sits with Catalunya's push for independence, or maybe that's the point.
After wifi at the local pub, we dined at the Chinese restaurant across the street. Ok but not great.
Walking back through the Placa Reial, we admired an early Gaudi - the interesting light poles!
