A long, tiring and frustrating day but we ended up in Paris!
The cab to Barcelona airport went smoothly; it was downhill from there. As Best Flights stuffed our booking in Australia some months ago, we had to fly to Paris via Madrid. As we went to board the flight today, Air Europa sent us back to the lounge as there was a technical fault with the plane. Better to discover these things on the ground! It took an hour to repair and this meant that missed our connection in Madrid by less than a minute. The next flight they offered was at 8:25pm. Bruce persisted and we were transferred to an Air France flight at 5pm. What with having to collect luggage and check in with Air France, we had ten minutes to grab a bite to eat - at Air Europa's expense - before we boarded.
Worse things happen at sea.
We landed at Charles De Gaulle airport and caught a cab to town.
The apartment is on the 6th level and as work is being done on the apartment below, we have no view. The upside is there's a pulley that got the luggage up quick smart. It helped enormously to have Tim do the heavy lifting - again!
It's a very funky apartment and Juliet and Vincent left a welcome pack for us - pâté, Mumm champagne, a bottle of red wine and nibbles. Very chic.
For dinner we headed to a nice Indian restaurant round the corner. It was the boys' first experience with Indian food. They seemed to enjoy it.
