After travelling for more than 3 months without any real time to recharge my batteries it was time to get some R&R. Well, for five days anyway. I arrived in Koh Phangan from Bangkok via a long bus ride and a 3 hour boat trip feeling a little tipsy. My plan whilst in Koh Phangan was to just chill out and rest my weary body, but for some reason me and a few other people thought it would be a good idea to spend the 3 hour boat trip drinking beer at 7 in the morning. By the time the afternoon rolled up I was feeling a little worst for wear.
Anyway, once I arrived at Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai in the north east of the island I checked into my beach bungalow a whole 2 meters from the actual beach and set about sleeping off my hangover and getting myself a respectable sun tan. Before I plonked myself down on the white sandy beach I had a look around and there must have been only 6 other people in sight and a load of palm trees swaying in the breeze. After about an hour or so of lying in the sun and sweating I proceeded to stand myself up, walk ten paces forward and dive into to crystal clear, warmish sea. This process was to be repeated about 5 times a day for the whole fives days with the occasional trip to the bar for some munch and a beer/water. The evenings were just as quite as the days as most of of the people who were here for the full moon party, which I deliberately missed, a few days earlier had left so there was no real reason for me to get drunk. This was fine for the first 3 nights but after that it became a bit frustrating. I'm English, what can I say, I love a good drinking session. After my five days of doing pretty much nothing I left Koh Phangan and made my way to Krabi.
