Pedro's Mission
After all the fun and games with the hostel in Pingyao cocking up my train ticket to Xi'an I made it here after spending 8 hour on the bus and not 6 like the hostel said it would take!!! Thanks Yeman hostel, I almost wet myself because of you. If I knew it was going to take 8 hours I would have planned by toilet breaks accordingly. I can't complain really as the Paddy girls had to sleep sitting up in the restaurant car of their train for 11 hours!! Ha ha!!!
I only made a flying visit to Xi'an as I wanted to spend as much time away from the cities as possible and relax in the countryside. Travelling is such hard work, i'd much rather be working......................................................... yeah right!!
So, on my first and only full day in Xi'an I went on a tour with Paul and Linda, James and Marie whom I met on the bus and 2 American muff divers to see the Army of the Terracotta Warriors. On route we stopped at Banpo Neolithic Village the earliest example of Yangshao culture (4500BC) and a silk factory.
I would just like to take a moment to let you all know that according to the Chinese the first human was found in China and not Africa and that China also created football!!! What a load of toss!!!!!
After the excitement of the silk factory we made our way to see the Terracotta Warriors with about half of China (that's what it seemed like anyway). In the evening a few of us stayed till the early hours of the morning drinking beer and watching Manure beat Celtic 3-2 in the Champions League.
The next day was I spent recovering in the hostel before getting the train with Paul and Linda to Shanghai. I decided to treat myself to soft sleeper this time instead of peasant class. It was very nice and comfortable but it was a bit to posh for the likes of me. Back to hard sleeper from now on me thinks.
