Pedro's Mission
Ah Pingyao! A well preserved traditional Han Chinese city halfway between Beijing and Xi'an surrounded by a completely intact 6km Ming dynasty city wall. I only spent 2 nights here as there wasn't that much to see. I arrived here at silly o clock in the morning again (I should be getting use to it but I'm not) and made my way to Yeman hostel with a Ham who was an Aissie (poor sod) living in Beijing. After a good 3 hours of sleeping I decided to get up and walk around the streets of Pingyao. The architecture of the buildings was really nice but the food was not as good as the stuff i'd been munching on in Beijing. Pingyao only really came to life in the evening and as you'll see from the photos it is quite amazing!!! After taking a few photos i went back to my hostel and had a few beers with Ham and a Polish I was sharing a room with.
The next day I went to Shaunglin Temple with Ham and the Polish guy. It wasn't as good as the Temple of Heaven but it was more authentic. In the evening there was a power cut and the only thing to do was drink the beer before it got too warm, which is exactly what I did with Ham and an Irish couple called Paul and Linda.
The day after I was suppose to be getting the train to Xi'an with Paul and Linda but the hostel cocked up the booking so after a bit of panicing we got the bus which ended up being quicker.
