We left Moshi for a drive to the coast to a town called Pangani on the Indian Ocean to stay at Peponi Resort which had been recommended to us. Unfortunately we couldn't find the track of the main road to the tiny town and after asking several locals and running out of daylight we had to stay in a place called Tanga for the night. In the morning we eventually found Peponi Resort whichw as a gem of a place right beside the palm tree lined beach. It was run by a British couple and had several bandas (round huts) and a brilliant bar and restaurant and even a small pool. After having been in the dust of the Serengeti, everything was just coated with it and then all the rain everything was in a complete mess. Whilst trying to relax by the coast and enjoy the beautiful setting we also had to clean everything up , wash loads of clothes and generally try and get everything sorted out again. It was a great place for a couple of days R&R but very very hot and humid but we had plenty of shade. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar each evening and next door there was another resort which had a great deli stocking all sorts of goodies whch we hadn't seen for weeks. We bought some chicken legs from the deli and some prawns off the local fisherman and had a nice BBQ on the beach one night.
