After leaving Germany followed by a quick passage through Austria we have at last arrived at Lake Bled, Slovenia which is spectacular. The campsite is fabulous right on the side of the lake overlooking the picture-postcard 17th century church on an island in the middle and medieval castle clinging to the rocky cliff. Now we have time to relax, typically for us the weather has taken a turn for the worst. We woke to rain although it quickly cleared up and we managed to walk around the lake (6k) in warm sunshine but by late afternoon it was raining again. On our second day there was torrential rain, thunder and lightning which unfortunately lasted the whole day and kept us confined to camp somewhat. As the evening went on the weather went worse and worse and what had previously been a small dried up gully turned into a raging river washing down into the lake, taking some of the road with it and nearly sinking some of the small rowing boats.
In the morning the camp looked like it had been under siege, although the river had calmed somewhat, and everyone was trying to dry out their sodden belongings.
