Another full days drive took us to Yabello which is the last port of call on the way to the border. The small town is merely a transit stop foe people travelling to/from Kenya/Ethiopia. The best place in town is Yabello Motel which was busy with travellers. We had a bit of a scare here when we tried to buy fuel and they told us they had none. However, we persisted and managed to fill the tank for the next leg. Most of the rooms at the motel were full and there were tens all over the front lawns. We camped in the field at the back together with a herd of cattle! The bar and restaurant were doing a roaring trade and we opted for spagetti bolognaise which can usually be relied upon to be quite tasty. Whilst enjoying his, Peter thought one of his fillings had fallen out but on investigation it turned out to be a piece of barbed wire from the sauce!! We called the waiter over and pointed it out to him and he took it away looking distraught. A few minutes later he was back saying' excuse me for the wire' which we took to be an apology and left it at that just thankful Peter hadn't swallowed it.
We slept well with the cattle and our armed security guard at the gate 9probably guarding the cattle not us) and made our way to Kenya.
