Everyone loves a bargain, and as you well know we are no exception to this. So we planned to do a sailing trip round the Whitsunday Islands (just off the coast of Queensland - very beautiful Islands). But rather than booking a trip in advance, our strategy was to turn up on the day we wanted to sail and to see which boats would be desperate enough to have us aboard.
So as a result we managed to score a fantastic deal, a luxury 'cat' for 3 days sailing with only 3 other couples. I won't go into detail but it was less than half price - whoo hoo. Luxury private cabin, amazing food on tap (prawns, steak etc) all great ... at least it was until we met our fellow guests. We've never sailed with a paedophile before but his other half looked not a day over 14 and didn't speak any English - very suspicious. Another couple were French Canadian Lesbians (the Lesbian thing didn't bother me but oh god French Canadians are a weird lot) one of them Suzie didn't smile and didn't like snorkelling/diving/sand/food/people and frankly we're not sure why she was there. And the final couple were on their Honeymoon, romantic you would think the wife was awful. She never spoke and when you asked her a question would rub her hand on her face as if it was causing her pain before answering in the most abrupt tone possible. Honestly the people you meet.
Despite the other guests we had a fun crew and the islands were amazing. We kept our dive skills fresh with a bit more diving, snorkelled extensively and enjoyed the luxury of being waited on hand and foot. Next stop Fraser Island.
