Melanie's Travels - Europe 2005
I began the morning standing in line at the Billy Elliot box office, but I was unable to buy tickets within my price range, so I headed down to Leister Square in search of tickets. I bought tickets and after being approached by a guy with a sketchy American accent, who I swore was going to rob me, I walked to the British Museum. Along the way I stopped at a bookstore and I bought the newest Harry Potter book. After buying the book I stepped out onto the street and noticed that I was on Charring Cross Road... how appropriate.
I enacted my "game plan" the moment I walked into the museum. I made it through the highlights of the British Museum pretty quickly and there were a couple of times I had to pretend I didn't know Hannah since she was taking pictures of everything. I saw the Rosetta Stone, and after a search, the mummies and after an even longer search, Michelangelo's sketches.
After the museum I headed to Hyde Park in search of the Peter Pan statue. The statue has always held a special place in my heart, it is tucked away in a quite corner of the park. It took awhile to find it but the search was well worth it.
I went back to the hostel to get ready for the musical and when I got to the theatre I realized that we had the worst seats in the house. It was a good thing I brought my binoculars. Despite our seats the musical was amazing. It was without a doubt the BEST SHOW I have ever seen. I wish I had an endless amount of money so I could see a show every night I was in London. Alas, I had to skip dinner today in order to afford these tickets...
