Arrived at Wurzburg and checked into the city hotel. The town was kind of dead, being a Sunday and after 6 pm. But we went out for a quick walk to familiarize ourselves before dinner. We ended up at a Trip Advisor and Rick Steves recommended restaurant by the Main (mine) river and old bridge called the Alte MainMuehl - the old Mine mill. This place definitely goes on our list of recommendations to friends. The service was fantastic, and the food phenomenal!
Pete ordered the restaurant's special sausages (9 links - don't worry, they were smaller than a regular German sausage) with 'Omma's potato salad', and I had their classic blue trout with salad and potatoes. The waiter also recommended a yummy half-dry wine to go with my dinner - a Schreube (the grape) - he gave me a pen to write the name down and told us we could get it at the local supermarket. We could barely finish, but our waiter tempted us with dessert, so I ordered some cream thing with rhubarb and berries and the most heavenly pumpkin seed ice cream- not just pumpkin, but pumpkin seed - it had a very different flavour. Pete had the most delicious creme brûlée I have ever tasted in my life. It was made with cassis berries.
We were so stuffed that food coma set in almost immediately. We walked back to our hotel and passed out like beached whales :b
