We arrived in Frankfurt at about 6:30, and parked outside our hotel - the Holiday Inn Express. Pete had booked this room for a very cheap rate (whoo!) and it was a very nice, big room, lots of space, modern bathroom with a spacious shower. Started the day off at Wurzburg's Residenz, or should I say the former prince-bishop's residence? Anyway, I didn't understand the whole prince-bishop concept, so I wasn't really expecting much in terms of his house. C'mon, we'd been visiting castles and palaces this whole trip. Arrived at Wurzburg and checked into the city hotel. The town was kind of dead, being a Sunday and after 6 pm. But we went out for a quick walk to familiarize ourselves before dinner. We ended up at a Trip Advisor and Rick Steves recommended restaurant by the Main (mine) river and old bridge called the Alte MainMuehl - the old Mine mill. Driving through the rain can make you sleepy, so good thing Creglingen was on our way to Wurzburg. Did you know tha Creglingen is home to the what I would imagine is the most extensive fingerhut collection. In fact, there is a museum for them. Fingerhuts, or finger hats, are what i call thimbles, but what Germans called 'finger hats'...makes sense. Anyway, for two euros, one can see a very large variety of thimbles all housed in one room.
