Another day on paradise...I am really enjoying this holiday. Peter said it might be our best ever. After the long day at MA park yesterday we decided to stay close to home today. I was up by six and Peter up shortly thereafter. The howler monkeys woke me up at dawn. They were laughing and howling. At four thirty in the morning it sounded like they were laughing at us! Other tropically places (read Hawaii and Mexico) have roosters that wake you up here it's monkeys. I haven't figured out which one I prefer. After a quick breakfast, Pete and I decided to drive down to the closest beach. It requires a 4 wheel drive and is pretty rough. It reminds me of the Indiana jone's ride at Disneyland. We parked on the beach, had a great walk from one end to the other. I think it's about 2 or 3 kms long and then decided to plant ourselves right near where we parked. We enjoyed several hours in the sun (with long sleeves, and hats on - still red from yesterday) reading, bobbing in the surf and people watching. Unlike Mexico we were only bothered twice by traveling salesmen - one selling cold drinks and the other pottery. I guess we were down there for about three hours. It seems the hottest around nine in the morning.
On the way up in one of the worst parts of the gravel road was a car stuck. We couldn't go around it. The path is very narrow and there's a steep cliff on one side. The guy managed to push the car back a couple of feet and off the road before they completely grounded out. We offered them a ride back to their hotel. Scott and Teresa were visiting from tampa Florida. Scott was totally stressed while teresa was telling him everything was going to be fine. They were only driving a small Toyota sedan. Teresa said they like to explore all the little roads. I told them they could probably get one of the taxis to tow them out. The other day on the beach we saw another person stuck in the sand getting a pull out from a taxi. I imagine that it happens pretty frequently around here. There are way more taxis than tow trucks.
The afternoon was spent around the pool here and up on our balcony reading. It was a very relaxing day. Just before dinner we took a small drive around quespos. There was a small rainshower but mostly it has been picture perfect weather.
In talking with our landlord this evening, it appears that Scott and Teresa managed to get their car pulled out by s taxi. Chuck happened to be coming up the beach right behind them.
