Our tour guide meets us in the lobby and off we go for a tour of the city. Specifically the Cathedral and the Alcazar. Now you always roll the dice with guides. The one we had at the Alhambra was very knowledgeable and teacher-like. So much so that he was scolding people that were touching the mosaics on the wall. This guy knew what he was talking about but was the complete opposite in behavior. He was tapping his pointer on stained glass windows in the cathedral. Eh, you take what you get. We wandered through some of the old Jewish quarter and I scoped out a place for dinner that night. I’d just have to find it again. (Here’s an unsolicited plug for an app. Maps with Me is an app for iphone or Android platform devices. You download your maps while you have an internet connection and have them at your disposal even if you don’t have a signal. If you do, you can mark where you are so you can find it again. I’ve tried Google maps for this and its nowhere near as reliable.) Since we had had a large breakfast, we opted for ice cream mid day and an early dinner. We picked up a horse drawn carriage and went for a ride around town and able to cover more ground than we had on foot, allowing us to get over to Parque de Maria Luisa and the museums over there. After the hour long ride we headed back to the place in the Jewish quarter for a really good al fresco meal at sunset so we could watch the shadows creep up the Cathedral as we passed by on our way back to the hotel.
