This is a day to ourselves and to return the car. The Rental place is only open until noon so we have to return it by then so we can’t sleep as late as we’d like. And, we’d like to try to find a Laundromat to clean some clothes. Apparently there are no self serve place in the whole town so that’s out. So instead, after we return the car we take the leisurely walk back to the center of town stopping in the Plaza by the cathedral for Churros and chocolate. We ended up having these all over Spain and none were as good. Crispy outside soft inside and the chocolate was more like hot fudge. AWESOME!!! We walk back toward the cathedral and there are three streets of Souk, The Alcaicería. Really, except for prices being marked in Euros, you’d have thought you were back in Morocco. We take a slow stroll along the river to the Albayzin and La Vista del Mirador de San Nicolas which is perched on a parallel hill to the Alhambra. Fantastic views of the city and the nearby mountains. Tonight’s dinner was an early one at a great tapas place between the Cathedral and Plaza Nuevo. Mind you, there were plenty of trips back and forth from the hotel to town which meant up and down that hill. Have I mentioned that here is where we start encountering Romas? Gypsies try to get you to accept a sprig of rosemary and then want to be paid for it. All I kept thinking of was the limping gazelle gets eaten so I slugged up and down that hill without showing how bad by ankle hurt or how slow I really should have been going. Yup, that night I had my foot in the ice bucket.
