Today starts with a morning tour of the Alhambra. Our guide picks us up in the lobby and we walk over. Granada was the last strong hold of the moors before the reconquista in 1492. Hmmm? year ring a bell? It feels like we are still in Morocco, but with a little something else. The gardens, the palace, the mosaics; everything is so beautiful. Afterwards, he shows us a short cut to the town so we don’t have to deal with twisty streets and cars. It’s a lovely tree covered pedestrian walkway that goes straight down to Plaza Nueva. Knowing that tomorrow being Sunday, that the Cathedral will be closed we head down see it but it’s closed for a few hours for a wedding. Ok, twist my arm and make me have lunch and more Sangria while we wait. One of the things that makes this cathedral special is that Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand are buried here. (Ok, not exactly right here but next door in the Royal chapel of Granada. Remember them from your history class? )That and the art work. Granada was their home.
