The literary pub tour was exceptional. It was rum by middle aged men that walked us through much of the literary history of Scotland in a very funny way. We went to 4 different pubs and we even tried straight whiskey, as that is what Edinburgh and Scotland are known for. Not gonna lie I probably won't be drinking that again, much different experience from my regular whiskey sour! After that we went back to our hostel and played cards for a bit. A bunch of Americans were going out to celebrate Canada at a local bar so we joint them and it was packed! Everyone was wearing red and while, they had canadian drink specials and played Canadian music, it's funny how much canadian pride there was, an how many people celebrated Canada day even though they were clearly not Canadian. After thy we went to a pub called the three sisters and danced up a storm. People from all over the uk come to Edinburgh to have their stag or hen parties so that was awesome to see. Essentially it's a bachelor or batchelorett party where they wear crazy costumes or coordinating clothes. The funniest ones we saw while we were here was guys all in full out superhero costume and the groom dressed as wonder woman.
Last night we were talking travel with people and they were saying how there is this great mountain in Edinburgh to climb called arthurs seat and since we didn't know about that yesterday we had to get up bright and early this morning to hike it. We went with 2 Americans, and a guy from London who we had met last night. The hike was tough, we didn't know there was an easier way to get up so we hiked up on a very steep and Rickey part of the hill but the views were awesome! Once we got to the top we took some amazing pictures and then had to head back down so that we would be able to catch our flight. We are off to Dublin this afternoon but I'm going to miss Edinburgh it was an awesome stop on our trip!
Fun fact: while traditional bagpipes are made with afitcan tree wood it is really not sustainable so more and more pipers are switching to plastic because it's cheaper, more sustainable, and when playing outside no noticable difference in sound. The wood ones cost around 800pounds, that's more then 1500 dollars!
