The way we have been trying to do our travels is a day in the city enjoying the culture and the tourist stuff, and then a day out in the countryside hiking or walking as all 4 of us love being active and in nature. So we talked to the front desk and they pointed us towards a town called Fiesole, a small old town outside of Florence. We got up bright and early this morning and started on our exploration of Florence. We walked in search of breakfast and found that it is not common for people to be up and active at 8am as there were very few places for us to get some food. We finally found some food and I got some of the fresh tomatoes and cheese of Italy that I remembered so fondly on a sandwich. We then walked to the Duomo (sp?) and it was amazing!! Today we pretty much spent the entire day on the train. We got up at 5:30 and didn't get into Florence until around 9pm. We had to take a few different trains so we spent a lit of time sitting around, readin our books and playing cards.
