After we checked in, we chilled out in the garden, overlooking the river, with a few drinks. It was so relaxing! We didn't bother to do anything, just had dinner, and walked 100 yards to the floating bar, for a few more drinks. We played cards and the bar shut at 10.30pm, so we went to bed!
We had a great nights sleep! Nice and comfy, and no noise! It's much warmer at night now, but we're still managing with a fan room, and it seems to be fine.
We had breakfast and then hired bicycles for the day. First we went to the bank to change some money, then to the train station to buy our ticket for the next day! It was blooming miles, and blooming hot! We went through a few markets along the way, Paul is gaining an obsession with buying cheap tat, including an obviously essential extension lead!! We found a water park, which was lots of little lakes, one even had pedelos on, though their safety couldn't be guaranteed!
We stopped at a riverside restaurant for lunch, though we'd both lost our appetite in the heat, and struggled with a plate of rice!
In the afternoon, we made our way to the sculpture park, which again, was miles away! It was worth it though! So impressive! The size of the sculptures was unbelievable! We fed some fish in the pond, and they looked like they'd never seen food before!
We rushed back to the hotel, just in time to board the sunset cruise. It was really lovely, and started off our evening.
After a quick shower in our garden like bathroom, we ate in the hotel and chilled out! Sarah was feeling knackered, so we went for a quick walk and had an early night!
This morning, we had a bit of a lie in as we didn't need to check out until 11am. We stayed in the garden all day, just chilling! Of course, Paul couldn't resist a bit of tat, so we did go out for half an hour to look around a shop and a market!
We stayed for a late lunch before jumping on a tuk tuk to the station. It had been a really nice stop in Nong Khai. There's not a great deal to do, which is part of the beauty of the place! Just a nice place to lie in hammocks!
We're now on the night train to Bangkok, and its so much better than the buses. We're hoping for a fairly decent night's sleep, before continuing to Bottle Beach!
