Once again we find ourselves staying longer in a Vietnam city/town than we had originally expected.
We arrived around 7am after our 12 hour night bus from Hoi An. It was ok and it seems that i (Paul) was the only one on the bus that didn't get at least a few hours sleep. On the bus we met a couple from London, Paul & Yvonne, who we have continually bumped into across Laos and Vietnam. And so it was that we spent the following few days eating, drinking (way too much), fishing and going to the spa with each other.
That morning we checked into the hotel and we set about trying to catch up on our lost sleep. We then awoke and basically did nothing that day apart from having a few too many beers with Paul & Yvonne. Next day was another case of doing absolutely nothing but we did see the new Bourne film (very good) and the new Simpsons film (very disappointing) in a local cafe. In Australia, we had always talked about going sea fishing and we finally got to do it here in Nha Trang.
Next day we hired a boat and the 4 of us headed out expecting to do some great deep sea fishing. That myth was busted when we got into the boat and saw the fishing rods (i have a better rid which has been busy catching dust back home for the last 10 years) but we still had a good day's craic fishing in the shallows; Trish did catch 2 fish compared to my 1 so i was comprehensively beaten. Next day was spent relaxing after another night on the beer and we all ended up going to the local mud spa, very nice indeed, supposedly good for your skin but i am still waiting to see the results.
After 4 nights we got a bus out and headed to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) saying our goodbyes. We had been told all the stories of the crazy and busy Saigon as we traveled down through Vietnam but it really isn't that bad, i quite like. But Saigon will have to wait until another blog...
