Since our last blog we spent 3 nights in Tanah Rata, the principal town in the Cameron Highlands. We toured the tea plantations, factories and had the joy of drinking some wonderful yet strange teas, explored the mossey forest seeing all manner of plants. Then we were brought to visit a local family who still live off the forest, collecting and hunting for their food. It was a really good experience and we are now both deadly accurate with the blow pipe, able to kill an animal from 50 metres away! After some tea in their bamboo house, traditional dancing and music playing we said our goodbyes and we made our way back to the hostel.
We now find ourselves in Langkawi, a small island off the west coast of Malaysia. We arrived here this morning after a very early rise in Panang (arrived there yesterday after a 5½ hours bus journey) to get the ferry; 2½ hours to Langkawi. We've booked ourselves into a little chalet by the beach which will be our abode for the next two days before we hop into another ferry destined for Thailand. The journey continues.....
