End of Luxury

We are now in Punta Arenas. (susan - punta ar anus) The 1st thing I need to do is get to the bus station and inquire about getting to Puerto Madryn. (Mad reen) It's MILES away and will probably be another 20 hour bus ride but that's fine. I think I'm in need of some me time now after these last few days!

OMG it's windier than a windy thing here! And it's constantly spitting BUT THERE ARE NO CLOUDS!! What's that all about? The people here seem to be slightly more happy to express themselves with hair styles and body art than in most places I've been to so far. The teenagers I saw when walking around after dinner had all made an effort for Halloween and made their faces up. They'd give you a run for your money Heather! There is a statue of local hero Hernando de Magallanes or Ferdinand Magellan in the main square. It's said that if a traveler rubs his foot it will bring them luck. So I did, and made a wish x

The 5 min shopping trip that turned into 3 hours!

So I popped round the corner to the minimarket to grab something for dinner. It was so mini it had nothing! He said there was another one that way, a big one. So Off I went, concentrating hard as I'd left my street map in my room. (I'm only going round the corner!). I got to the huge supermarket at the same time as a Spanish guy with his wife and 2 kids did. It had just closed. The Spanish guy said jump in our car and we'll all go together. Great I thought so I did. It was at this point I thought, um, he'll drop me off miles away. I have no map. I will get lost. Despite him explaining how to get back, get lost is what I did. Oh well. Mental note to take the map everywhere!
