The mini adventure in Toledo
I woke up at 9am grabbed a shower and went on the pc at the hotel to print my insurance certificate off and update my blog. By the time i got back copey was sturring. We had not planned anything for today. The marathan was on but just watching was going to wear me out. We read our book we took from paris and it recommended toledo as a place to visit. We jumped on the metro to the station and had to queue up using a tesco style ticket system, we eventually got to the ticket office it cost us €17.80 for a return.
We boarded the train next to some very old and posh ladies they were talking about what gladis or someone would be doing now , probably in church they said. It only took 30 mins to get to toledo. The town was a short walk from the train station so we grabed a jabon sandwich and a beer. The ham was carved off a full cured leg of pig hung up on the wall behind the bar. It was nice but still had a layer of fat that was hard to chew. Copey satnav had the map but we seemed to wander forever to find this tomb of some dead guy. We stumbled on loads of minis parked up. Not suprisingly this seemed to be the main attraction for everyone as people tried to get pictures of the minis. So debbs and becki you've not had a proper adventure in your minis until you've been to toldeo!
After walking up and down countless hills and walking through tiny pebble streets we found the tomb. It cost us €2.30 to get in, it was basically a tomb of the count of orgaz and a church i wandered around a bit and met copey outside later on.
Toledo was a nice town uphill a lot and quaint little streets, suprisingly there were a load of hostels and the place seemed very cheap to eat and drink, well compared to france it was! We saw no beggars or tramps all the tourists seemed to be spanish too, so must be good. We had a few more beers on the way back to the train, we again got some cake that we were given the first time we hit madrid. I had a bit it tasted of potato and something else it was cold. I suppose it was okay we had our beers and headed back to madrid.
We decided on a chinese for tea again, i got duck in orange sauce, copey got chicken in singapore barbeque sauce. Mine came with a dodgy cut rose carrot which the waiter dropped on the table then scoottered off. The service in this place was poor we just got given bottled beer with no glasses and they came back after i ordered questioning why i ordered duck for 4 people when i didnt! Oh well the food was good enough and it was the second effort from me to eating rice, i had 3/4 of a bowl, the orange sauce helped. After the meal we decided to head back to the hotel we both bought a bottle of mahou lager, 2 pints for €1.50 thats more like it. We drank it and watched dodgy german telly about celebrity foreheads, dont ask it was the only thing entertaining on!
