Postonja caves and £1 a pint in bar koda
I woke up stupidly early and decided that a Shower was needed. it was still very early so i went on the internet for an hour to kill time. We had planned to go to the caves yesterday but never got up, today i was determined to get up and go to slovenias no 1 attraction. I pestered cope to get up and get ready, he eventually stirred.
We grabbed breakfast and headed to the bus stop expecting an old coach, it turns out most of the buses to other parts of slovenia are actually coaches, it cost us €6 to get to postonja. The drive there was beautiful, slovenia is a beautiful country, it was very green and their was some quality hairpin roads, copey was dying to get a superbike and go on it. We arrived and went to the tourist information centre they said that they give 5% discount to the caves so we got in for €19. We had to walk a few minutes to the caves, on the way an australian girl was wondering which way to go up the hill or down. She was also going to the caves, she followed us and got talking to us she was in zagreb a few days ago so we picked her brain for info.
You are only aloud in the caves at set times as you have to be guided through them. Ours was at 13:00 so we waited outside, the tour consisted of a train jouney inside and back and also a 30 minute walk inside with a guide, no photos where allowed, apart from the end. The caves are amazing but very wet and cold, they did rent out world war 1 trench coats but we didnt think we would need them. In our group we had a tour group from tokyo with their interpretor. It was funny really as they old women where tiny, copey was gonna use one of them to rest his arms on.
We got the bus back to ljubljana it only took an hour, when we got back to our room, we noticed another bed had been made and a bag left, the only thing was me and copey had commendered the room with our wet washing, even the lockers so they couldnt use them, they must of been pissed off with us, but reception did say the room was going to be empty. We tidyed up a little and gave them one locker then we headed out, we found a cheap bar called bar koda, it even had a few barcodes decorations, the best thing about this place was it had a rain covered seating and it was €2.54 for 2 pints thats about £1.07 a pint! Trouble is it shuts at 8 otherwise we would of been in there all night.
After we got kicked out of bar koda we walked to the city centre near the river, we heared some music, as we got closer it was the beatles! A band were playing only beatles songs, they were slovian but when they sang they didnt have any accents and actually sounded english, they were very good so we sat in an outside bar and drank the union again. After a bit we were dying for the toilet so asked where it was, its half way over the bridge the waitress said. What? I followed a guy and low and behold theres a public toilet down one side of the bridge. It cost €.017 and you even got a ticket for going, very strange, trouble was it shut early but the beatles where playing to well past 12....
Copeys quote: " realising i had to do a quote a day, i wish id bought that book with whitty one liners "
