We weren't planning on heading to the Cinque Terre but so many people we met said it was a must see, so here we are! If you haven't heard of it, Cinque Terre is 5 small towns on the coast in the Italian Riviera with spectacular views. They are really lovely little towns, perched amongst steep rocky cliffs with no cars and some crazy coloured buildings. We stayed in Riomaggiore which is the eastern most town and a delightful place with a lovely rocky beach. There are walks between the villages which we did, hard work in the scorching heat and with the steep gradients involved (by the end my face looked like a beetroot). And we've also lazed around on the beach, swimming in the mediteranean (it's been around 30 degrees everyday), watched a few sunsets. Of course we've also sampled the local wine and food (we visited the anchovy salting centre and of course sampled an anchovy there, actually quite nice). It was extremely hard work! Had a great few days, it's been very relaxing (great to get away from the crowds and queues in Florence and Rome) and I would definitely recommend everyone come here! Check out the photos from the walk, it's pretty amazing!
