Paul's World Tour
Hi everybody from Sydney!
Apologies for the lack of updates to the website over the last few months- been having a few technical difficulties with bloody internet cafes not letting me upload me photos to the web. Will let you know when i get it sorted but in the meantime i thought i would write a quick postcard to you all to say hi.
Its been a pretty chilled out few months lazing on the many amazing beaches here on the east coast of oz. We started in Cairns were we took a daytrip out to the great barrier reef - saw some great dive sites but we went out there on a real old chug chug boat which was very queezy - next time will pay the extra $20 and travel in style! After Cairns we went over to Fitzroy Island for a few nights - One night on the island we were having a romantic dinner watching the sunset and this 1m snake slithered over to our table which scared the hell out of us. i also think the island should be renamed t***roy Island' after the sights we saw on their nudey beach!
We travelled further north to Cape Tribulation which was amazing - the only place in the world where the rainforest meets the ocean and two world heritage sights come together. From there we started travelling down south along the coast stopping at Port Douglas, Mission Beach, Magnetic Island, Airlie Beach, Great Keppel Island, 1770, Rainbow Beach and Noosa.
Did some grade 4 white water rafting on the Tully River which was amazing - Amy fell out the raft and got sucked under water through one of the rapids which was a bit scary.
Just before we got into Brisbane we visited Australia Zoo - home of Steve Irwin - the man himself didn't make an appearance but all the staff clearly use him as a role model and everyone was extremely enthusiastic at their job from the crocodile handlers to the girl selling ice cream - crikey!
Brisbane as a nice city and from there we headed down to Surfers Paradise. Visited wet and wild water park which was cool - they had a 'dive in' movie where you sit in a rubber ring in their lagoon and watch a big cinema screen in the open air under the stars - quite a bizare feeling to be watching Batman Begins whilst real live bats are flying in front of the screen.
From there it was onto Byron Bay which was really nice but full of hippies. The hostel girl who picked us up from the greyhound coach seemed intent in pointing out every 24 hour bakery in the town for when we get the munchies!!
Anyhow, just arrived in Sydney and will be doing a whole load of touristy stuff here before jumping on a plane to Perth to stay with my good friend Darron Freegard. We are getting to the end of our travels and the money is running low so will be back in the UK soon. Looking forward to catching up with you all when i get home. Till then, take care!
Best wishes
Paul
