Arrived in Hong Kong to stifling humidity - treat! Took a bus from the airport to North Point in the city!
It appears to be so much bigger than the last time I was here more diverse as well it was a flying trip before though and I can't wait to apprciate it better now..
My darling big sis met me off the bus at the last stop at North Point where we walked the 5 mins to her small and cosy apartment with cute exotic fishes! I was smelling "funky" from the journey so immediately put on a wash and jumped in the shower.. I know I won't have it this easy when I start staying at hostels.. It's a shoes off at the door place well I am in Asia...
Freshly showered & invigorated we set out at 7.30pm and take the crazy mini-bus into Central.. They fly round you have to shout you want to get off in advance as the more routes they do the more money they make..
SUSHI ONE for dinner.. I've never had sushi except from Tescos before and I love it! Copious amounts of green tea accompany the fresh flavours of the raw fish each dish is colour coded for it's relevant price...It truly was divine a huge fish tank spans one entire side of the restaurant Lorraine comments it's slightly bigger than hers and I remark that Im sure it makes them feel uncomfortable seeing their distant cousins being served up but then I remember the length of a goldfishes memory!?! Deep fried shell crab was delicious with a gazillion calories but as Lorraine points out Im on my holidays!
Having needed a new camera anyway coupled with the fact that I left behind my other in Geneva we go to browse the many shops offering electrical wares and new fandangled gadgets! I settle on a practical Samsung - I love it - I spend 2000 Hong kong dollars and feel good like I've spent 2000 pounds!! We asked for a 2MB memory card which we got also got the standard tripod & screen protector gratis plus wait for it a pair of socks!! We couldn't stop laughing & embarassed he asked had he spelt socks wrong on the receipt upon reassurance that no we just found it a ridiculous thing to get free we were on our way..
Lorraine's boyfriend George met us fresh from rugby practice and we ended the night in "Inside out" a bar filld (surprisingly) with a lot of chinese.. You get unlimited peanuts in shells which are very addictive and you can't move without hearing the crunch of the shells underfoot!
I love Hong Kong for the same reasons I doubt I could live here - it's bustling & vibrant but the air is stifling and would undoubtedly take some getting used too..
Jet lag attacked me severlely through the night... I got just 4 hours but I've been able to catch up with computer stuff..
Getting up at 8am so not too long to go - Im having a swim in their apartment bloc - chic!?!
Then meeting my crazy friend Ann at Sham Shei Po at 11am.. She told me not to have breakfast so we can sample some of the delights - I can't wait - I'm starving!
I think I will also need a very large Americano to see me through to bedtime.. I promise colourful photos tomorrow!!
Right I need to condense my entries as leaving Hong Kong soon & won't have much time to write in Malaysia & Singapore...
So I visited Anns mum (chinese fortune teller) it's all good.. Im a dragon lady! I'll be rich by age 40 (I don't even need to marry a rich man), have a famous child, Im not allowed anymore tattooes but I need to grow my hair back cos it's bad luck for me..
We visited Macau (40 mins by ferry) former Portuguese colony, it's lovely nice colonial buildings and 100 casinos! Went to the Venetian hotel which has a grand canal complete with gondolas inside... Signs are in portuguese.. Got another stamp in my passport hoorah!
Went to Lamma Island - can't believe there are so many islands a short ferry ride away from the hustle and bustle of this non-stop city..
Went out in Lan Kwai Fong to the Ice Bar - was very cool literally!
Ate Chicken feet at Dim Sum (don't ask!) had a Korean barbeque - and vietnamese tonight at Central.. The variety of eateries available here is second to none..
Been out on a junk (boat) all day today got very very sunburnt - not big and not clever - it was nice to be on the boat although I did get seasick for first time ever! Everything is still rocking maybe Im still on the boat!?
Tomorrow is my last full day in hong Kong before Singapore - Im going to wonder - make use of the free exercise equipment in the parks and do some last minute souvenir shopping...
Met Holly had a good day.. Left Hong Kong with my oyster card in minus figures - good work!! Bring on Singapore!!
