It was with a real sense of excitement that we met up with Sarah, Brian and family near Murcia, not just because we were looking forward to seeing our friends but because we would have a proper bed to sleep in for the first time in nearly 2 months!
The villa was fantastic and as well as all the usual mod cons it had an excellent swimming pool which despite the slightly chilly water got regular use during our stay. As usual we got the big drinking night out of the way early and spent the next two days recovering. Brian kept us fed on top quality cooking and most days were spent chilling around the apartment and pool with an excursion into Aledo, a nearby medieval village in the foothills of the Sierra Espuna national park.
On leaving Sarah and Brian we headed back to the Sierra Espuna for a few days of good walking and cycling. We inadvertently committed a major motorhoming faux pas by overnighting in a car park right opposite a camp site which drew some accusatory comments from a passing English expat that we overheard, “too mean to stay in the campsite”, well we do have a reputation to uphold ;-)
It was then back to civilisation and another bed and hot shower when we met up with Pam’s parents for a few nights in the ghost town of La Manga.
We are now heading for the hills again, this time the Sierra Nevada, before meeting up with my Dad and Pam’s folks near Marbella.
