We woke up to fresh-made waffles at the campground and then hit the road to search for a replacement for our spare tire. We were still four hours away from Austin. Figured we would get there for a late lunch and then get back on the road. We are all ready about half a day behind schedule.

Turns out, our trailer had an unusual tire size. We spent 4-5 hours in search of the perfect size. Along the way, we picked up a 4-way lug wrench, a floor jack, and a grease gun so that I can change any future blown tires. We found two tires at Discount Tire Center, where they assured us the blow-out was due to dry rot. We replaced both tires and had to keep one of the old ones as a spare because they only had 2. Now, to work on the leaking roof!

We called every RV repair facility between Houston and Austin and no one can look at the roof for at least a week and a half. One service man at Camping World suggested we pop up the trailer and check to see that the mounting bolts for the air conditioner are properly tightened. Sounds like logical advice.

We go out in the rain to open the camper and check the A/C, and the door won't open! The lock is broken. So much for checking the leak.

Jimmy Jr. went online as we finally started to Austin and found a Jayco dealer. We called them and I begged for them to quickly fix out door. They said they could work us in first thing in the morning.

We arrived at Mark Berner and Cassandra James' house at about six thirty. Only one day late! We've known them for about fifteen years, going back to when Mark was the Executive Director at Selby Gardens in Sarasota. We still miss there friendliness, southern hospitality, and Mark's martinis. It was great to catch up.

After all the kids were in bed and ready to fall asleep, the grown-ups real-life nightmare began. Mark was helping Cassandra (who is suffering with PSP) in the bathroom. Long story short, he fell, and broke his femur badly. The paramedics were amazingly quick in their response time and arrived with in two minutes. They rushed him to a trauma center where he will have surgery to repair his leg. What a tragedy!
