Day 31
Saw this little critter today, very cute and harmless, he is a Thorny Devil lizard.
About 90km from last night's overnight stop, fuelled up at a community called Docker River which is just on the Western Australia, Northern Territory border where the owner of the service station kept the doors barred and you had to knock to get them to open up. A new high for fuel prices, 210 cents per litre. Not the most attractive place and we had been warned by people we met at previous campsites not to stay there as it was a bit rough... they were right!
Stopped to help an aboriginal family from Docker River who had broken down 60km outside Yulara. They needed a jack to change a wheel which had come off as they were driving along, shearing the nuts. Each wheel only had 2 wheel nuts. Michael changed the wheel with our jack, gave them some water and the 2 men, 5 women and 1 child climbed back into the car and drove off with the car leaking diesel.
Travelled into Yulara via the impressive scenery of Kata Juta (The Olgas) and Uluru (Ayres Rock).
Overnight: Yulara campsite
Distance: 340km
