Day 53
Little Sierra had picked up a tummy bug at childcare and we woke up this morning with lots of people sick overnight. Sierra, Kristin, Marie and Brenton were all ill so headed back to Mudgee.
That left John, Daniel and us to go for a journey up in the boat. This time we went down river towards the dam wall but as the lake is just so big, we turned around 15 km short if it. Last year it was at 12% capacity and earlier this year it was at 120%, now reduced a bit at 87%. It is hard to believe that so much water has fallen over the last year or so. When full, it is supposedly three and half times the capacity of Port Jackson (Sydney harbour).
We returned to base camp for some tea and leftover cake and then set about packing up. Michael spotted another brown snake on the way to the boat ramp to get the boat out of the lake.
When we got back to Mudgee in the early afternoon, Michael and John unpacked the cars and boats.
Overnight: Reilly's, Mudgee
Distance: 40km
