Mileage 2238. Travelled to Caceres via Italica, a partly excavated Roman city which was the home of two Roman Emperors. Beatiful mosaics on the floor of a high class domestic home. Then to Merida, which sported a very long beautifully preserved Roman bridge. Saw what I can only think was a Grey Heron, though to my mind with a much darker back than the typical British one.
Caceres was a delight. A well preserved old town, an informative visitors centre and Sunday morning life - families in Church and then enjoying street vendors and performers in the main square. We assumed we had come across a festival day, but maybe this was just Sunday in Caceres.
