A quickish brekkie on the balcony before we set of for a fun day in the Blue Mountains. The weather was gorgeous and warm as we left, however the closer we got to Leura the lower the outside air temperature read in the car. Once we arrived, Ian and Tom quickly changed from shorts to longs. It was so cold they didn't even brave a walk across the carpark to the toilets, instead it was the old kiwi at the beach routine beside the car.
Leura hadn't changed much since we were last there, a few different shops perhaps. We remember it as picture postcard perfect, and it didn't disappoint with blossoming trees lining the street. It was pretty cold though so a it was a sprint up one side then down the other, with a quick reprieve from the wind in the Christmas Shop and back to the car. The funniest sight in town was watching Tom trying not to loose his pants.
Taking the scenic drive we headed down to Echo Point, for a spectacular view of the Three Sisters and the ranges. It was even colder there, but we're tough kiwis, sort off. Not as tough as some people we saw in shorts! With the wind chill, it must've been at least -5!
The plan had been to take the railway ride down and the cable car back up, it was unanimously decided we'd give it a miss as we quite liked our noses attached to our faces! We then headed off on a bit more of a drive up to Mt Victoria then across to Bell and back out of the mountains towards Richmond. Venturing out of the car just one more time for something warm to eat.
We headed home the long way around over the Harbour Bridge so Tom could say he's been over it and under it. Back at Parramatta we foolishly decided to go to the Westfield mall. The first three hours parking are free - we discovered why. It can take that long to find a park! Once we got inside it didn't take long before we were feeling rather clastraphobic. The mall was big and had lots in it but there weren't the usual large open forecourts to accommodate the crowds that we are more accustomed to in Australian malls. So we bought some prawns and salady stuff for dinner and headed home.
Tom then headed down to the pool, Sally shelled and cleaned the prawns and Ian relaxed with a beer and chippies, before we settled down to a nice dinner and quiet night in front of the TV watching Australian Idol.
