Today we headed off to the Palace of Knossos to see the ancient Minoan Ruins. This is Crete's top tourist sight and a great visit. It turned out to be a free entry day, nice for the wallet but decidedly not nice for the crowds. Greece is busy and there are often queues (and it's not yet the busy season in these parts). Today we left Hania and headed to Rethymno. This city is listed as similar to Hania but it has its own character and we loved exploring it. It doesn't have such a big harbour that the town is centred around but nevertheless it has a lovely waterfront and we had coffee in a cafe near the Old Springs in the centre of the Old Town and another yoghurt ice cream.
