After a disjointed break in our trip, we flew back to the Gold Coast on the 19th May to collect our home on wheels. So cheap too. Parked for two weeks in a secure lock up near the airport for a total of $120. Unheard of in Sydney! Revisited brother Ian for a night then drove around 33km to Canungra to stay three nights at the showground. We just wanted a little R&R and replan our next moves. It was a great spot for that.
Onward to Somerset Park campground - between Lake Wivenhoe and Somerset Dam - around 150 km day - but first a stop at Mt Tambourine and Eagle Heights. Wow what a great view! Looks out over the Gold Coast and we had lunch at the pub. Once we got to the campground, we had the place practically to ourselves. DB tried a bit of fishing (unsuccessfully) and then our last night we were joined by 4 of the nicest people who were there for the wooden boat get together. The guys actually skied on planks of wood from Bunnings! No shape, no fins, no bindings! Then they step off and barefoot. We shared a lovely campfire with them.
Friday 25th we left and drove 137 km to Maroochydore to the caravan park there and walked to lunch to catch up Freeman.
A huge storm hit that night and we had to baton down the hatches. We have three nights here and then we begin zig zagging up and down the coast for a couple of weeks.
All is going well and we are hoping for the big, grey clouds over Maroochy at the moment to keep going. Nothing to see here clouds!
