Yesterday was all day in Tennessee. Today will be all day (and a couple more) in Arkansas. Once we dropped down out of the Tn hills and crossed the Mississippi we became flatlanders with that rich bottom soil stretched out of either side of us, the spring crops in or going in. A yellow crop-duster doing nose-dives back and forth across the highways and around us. But then we got to these beautiful fields of ragweed...weeds are so pretty in the right setting! :) And then the thick thick trees and slightly rolling hills. Not as rolled out as Kentucky, I don't think but some dips going on. I asked Jeff if it had just rained or were those rocks always so black. The picture is an overlook about 50 miles before we got off of I40 and veered off towards Alma. But prior to that we had seen signs for Toad Suck Park which I really have to research as we didn't stop. About 30 miles closer to the Alma exit we saw "Pig Trail Scenic Byway". I have to make a photo folder for Arkansas because we stopped and ran back up the frontage road to take some more pictures of the lovely scenery that was about 5 miles from our Alma exit 13. We went through town and was about to make a turn onto Sunnyside Drive when we decided to stop at the corner Phillips 66. I knew I had arrived. We parked on the side of the puddle-filled parking lot. He went around the front of the building to go inside and I immediately locked my doors. It was a busy little station for being so small and out in the middle of nowhere. To my left behind the station were about 6 travel trailers angled in, their older model cars tucked in beside them. One guy outside working on his car. I looked around, all white and all scary. I wasn't quite sure I'd feel safe getting out of the car. I unlocked as Jeff came back around. Do those people live there all year round? Yes. Ok, I have to process this.
