Had a quick bus journey on a local bus along the coast with some amazing scenery dropping us at our destination of Hue safely.
Only a quick stop here so rented a pair of bicycles with some friends we had met from Germany and rode to the train station to book our train for the next evening.
Explored the beautiful town of Hue by bike making a stop at Dieu De Temple. The temple itself was quite modest in comparison to some we have seen while on our travels, but it was filled with monks and nuns chanting prayer accompanied by musical instruments - the fact we were the only tourists witnessing this really added to a great experience! Outside in the grounds there was a little boy in full prayer costume who called us over to proudly show off the grasshoppers he'd been catching!
Next day we rose early and walked to the main attraction in Hue - The Citadel, a walled ancient city complete with moat and all! An interesting sight however we felt slightly ruined as a lot of the damaged ruins had been replaced with newly built buildings, for us it defeated the point of visiting an ancient city complex!! The gardens were lovely and after touring the grounds we headed back to town for dinner and to pick up our bags in preparation for our 13 hour night train to the capital Hanoi!
