Headed for Coober Pedy today. We continued to have light rain over night and decided that it would be a bit too sticky on the Oodnadatta Track, especially towing the camper trailer.
The drive to Coober Pedy was relatively uneventful - a very flat landscape.
Got to town and checked out the camping options. We decided to camp at Riba's. Although we did not take advantage of the underground camping option (as we are in a camper trailer) the Drivers did. They set up their tents under ground in their own little spot. Very unique!
While we were setting up I found some colour (opal) on the ground so I set the kids to specking while we set up camp. Then we headed into town to the designated fossicking area. We found a lot of potch (opal without colour) and a few bits with colour. Either way it was a good chance to get the kids out and about and moving seeing it was a top of 10C today.
Went on a night time tour of an old opal mine tonight. Very informative tour and very intense presenter.
