We had a massive day driving today. 730 km now sees us in Tambo. It was a little chilly in Bourke last night and woke up to a very foggy morning. We are still trying to get North as far as possible as quickly as possible. The day was pretty uneventful- except for the fact that we crossed the border and had the mandatory boarder crossing photo. We also saw some Bustards today on the side of the road- very strange looking birds. Caitlyn saw the first one and though it looked like a kiwi with a strange looking beak. Later we saw a group of four.
We are camping in our first free camp site of the trip, just on the outskirts of town. A nice quiet spot on the Barcoo River. I was surprised the note that it is part of the Lake Eyre catchment. The fire is going and the marshmallows roasting.
