We made camp today at Kingfisher Camp (or as the signs say- KFC). It was a very slow day on the road taking us nearly four hours to travel 150km, The biggest problem being the bull dust, oh and the flat tire. Most to the road was through the one property. We came in thru the back gate, and my job for the day was the gate opener/closer. It was an amazing drive, both the scenery and just how remote it was. We also had several reasonable river crossing which is always fun.
KFC is a lovely spot on a private property. We are camped down on a massive billabong (5km long) and we have a lovely grassy and shady spot, AND hot showers (after four night of cold showers or a swim in the gorge it was nice to have a hot shower). We saw a little helicopter this afternoon- it had been out rounding up the cattle. Joel, Jacob and Caitlyn had a quick fish in the billabong and Caitlyn caught a catfish - though not the Barra that she was hoping for.
The kids got to roast some marshmallows at another camp site and we got to find out about the road ahead.
The climate has changed again and we are starting to feel the some humidity. Still have not spotted a croc (either salt or fresh water). Though there are more and more cane toads as we head North. KB
