Happy 2007 all!
We hope your all well and that you enjoyed the festivities. Unfortunately, we had no signal at all on our mobiles and the land lines were all jammed so we could not speak to any of you, very frustrating. None of your text messages came through either! We must admit we were very sad new years eve. The campsite we were at was too far out of town to walk to a pub or anything and the site itself had nothing going on. After tea and too many glasses of wine we actually fell asleep by 10:30pm. Sad i know we hear you all laughing!

We had a great few days at the glaciers. We did a heli hike on Franz Josef which was so incredible, we got a helicopter flight up and over the glacier then landing about half way up. We then got kitted out with crampons ( snow studs to fit to your boots) and pick axes and went for a two hour explore on the glacier with the help of our guide Goose. It was an amazing experience, we found lakes, caves and even crawled on our hands and knees through a little ice tunnel it was so so much fun. It was a crazy experience, like a dream, we both absolutley loved it!

From here we drove down through Fox Glacier, equally as incredible. Then we stopped at Jacksons Bay, as far as the road goes down the west coast. It's a tiny remote little bay in the most beautifull setting. We had a treat and spotted a live wild crested penguin. They usually only come out early morning or late evening so we felt blessed by a special midday appearance. ZOe wanted to touch it and take it with us, poor little thing!

We are now in Sunny sunny hot Wanaka (hope it's nice back home, ha ha). We're off to find the Betneys later on today and hopefully spend a few days with them which we're looking forward to.
